I've always taken points. If you search this forum enough on pts vs miles you'll find mixed views. In general I think you may get better $ for points, but again that's debatable.

I have more airline miles than I need, so I really only select airline miles if I need to send some miles to an airline program I don't fly often to keep points from expiring. As well, if an airline is running some promo for "partner credits" it can sway my decision. But 99% I'm points.
