There is likely a pending NTSB investigation open which would cooperate with the UK AAIB and the German authorities as well on this incident.

Some questions

As you descended below 10,000 Feet did the cabin smoke subside (as at this altitude the crew could have purged all cabin air without impacting the A/C packs)

Did you fly on the same aircraft?? Sorry, I'm not clear if UA did actually dispatch another aircraft or "checked" this aircraft. If they did check this aircraft, did BA perform this check or did UA fly in someone from LHR, (or another station) to do this and fly with the plane.

Check DFT/Air Accidents Investigation Board
http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/group...cst?n=5254&l=2

and the US NTSB
http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/query.asp

Both will require aprox 1-2 weeks for an early report to go up.

In any case if either don't report it on , it WILL end up in the FAA NASDAC database
