Thought I'd share this story as a slight distraction from the QF A330 incident yesterday
Recently returned from a SYD-DRW-SYD in J.
Flights were good ableit the 738 is totally too small for this route when full, even in J.
Anyway on rtn leg after movie (they show a full length movie on domestics over 3 hrs) I got up and went to front J class lav. A few minutes into my business had 3 firm knocks on the door. Thinking something was wrong I quickly got up cleaned up and exited only to find the CSM at the door saying "we have a bit of a queue" There were about 6 Y pax lined up in the galley area and J cabin waiting to use lav.
I was outraged and gave the CSM a not so pleasant look when I realised nothing was wrong. The CSM's response to my look was "excuse me??" as if she were scolding a naughty child.
Since when did QF train its staff to knock on lav doors to move people on???? I was in there no longer than I needed to and in fact exited early thinking something was wrong.
A trivial issue but I have written a complaint to QF. A pax has every right to use the loo in reasonable time - I hope any QF crew reading this will take note. I was not in there doing a song and dance or other activities QF cabin crew have become famous for
I wish the days of the curtain being shut between J and Y would be brought back in. I am told that the curtain needs to stay open for "air marshal reasons". Having Y pax standing in the J cabin periodically waiting to use lav and walking their todlers around is a little annoying when one has payed for a premium experience. I understand the 738 is a tiny plane and as stated is a bad choice for such long legs. As annoyed as I was I do empathise with all pax esp the Y ones on such sectors-esp when flight is 100% full.
After many yrs flying QF and other carriers - never had this happen before..have you?
