9 times out of 10 the director is heavily involved with the creation of the airline version, so what you're seeing in edited form on UA (and on broadcast or cable television) has been approved by the filmmakers.
Most of the distributors take special care to edit their films in such a way that the changes are seemless to the viewer, by re-dubbing profanity to match the original lip movements, and using alternate shots to replace "offensive" shots. They also paint out some objectionable visuals, like nudity -- or airline logos! I've seen a lot of bad editing on the airlines, but I've also seen a lot of good editing, as well.
