Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm not too sure where to find the specific booking subclass, but my ticket shows "Booking class: B".

However I'm pretty sure my ticket is eligible for upgrade. When I login to the itineraries and click upgrade, I get following message:

A complimentary upgrade has been requested on your behalf.

Do I have to anything more than that upon checking in at a kiosk? I usually check in around 2 hours prior to departure.

Thanks much.

There are two things you have to keep in mind for the comp upgrades. First, they're only valid on the following fare bases: Y, YUAS, YUA, Y2, YZ9L3, YZ9LT3, YZ9L3S, BUAS, BA3, BA3S, BUA, B2 (see http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6722,1166,00.html). Second, if you book through a non-UA channel, you have to request the comp upgrade - it's not automatic if you book through a travel agent (though it's still complimentary).
