I just took the train last week from Munich to Paris. We had a Private Double with Shower and toilet. I found it nice having the shower versus trying to use the facilities in Paris.
The cabins are okay comfort wise, but I frankly found it hard to sleep because we stopped so many times. At some point during the night they changed directions and moved the locomotive to the other end of the train where the cabins where. That created a lot of jarring to disconnect and reconnect, and even worse the loco was quite loud and the ride got noticeably rougher. My wife on the other hand slept well. Your millage may vary.
I would say 1/3 of the people in the cabins were English speakers. The purser was fairly gruff and only spoke French and German.
Other complaint, is the DB web page is confusing about which accommodations you're purchasing. The ticket that prints out is even more confusing. Native German speakers had a hard time figuring out if we ended up with a private double or not (we did).
