Airlines have to pay the third party lounge per user. They will pay for premium pax and frequent flyer but not for their guests. Thats how they make their money.
For a BA own lounge, it not even a real overhead costs since all the facilities are already set up.
I disagree. As a Gold I have often used the Crud du Sud at TLS with a guest. Simply shown my gold card and said, politely, "I'd like to book a guest in?". BP details of guest were noted and in we went - mind you why we bothered.........
