Just wondering if anyone has ever tried to ask for more miles when stuck in the air for longer than expected and you flew more miles that what you are credited for. Not that I am a mileage-hungry person, just wondering if anyone has in the past.

My situation was last sunday on approach from LHR- LAX, we circle over Vegas for an hour, adding almost 500 miles to our trip, and wondered if I took a pic of the map showing the miles we travelled, could I get extra miles posted.
