I was traveling just after I finished chemo. I carried a gallon bag, marked it "medical necessities" and put vaseline, contact lens solution, saline, etc. The only problem I had was in Japan transferring. They didn't like the vaseline because it was more than 100 ml. Didn't have a problem in the US and I had to pass two security checks each way. I also had a quart bag with other stuff in it. I had no prescriptions for anything. Being a bald woman and carrying a cane may have helped.
