I'm really a 2C type. I tend to travel carry-on only, so on narrowbodies, I want space under the seat in front of me, in case the overhead bins are full. And the bins over Row 1 are far more likely to have emergency/crew stuff in them anyway.

(Oh and also, 2C is "just another seat" in F or J, so it invites slightly less inquisition. I prefer to travel in relative anonymity.)
