Hilton Changed My Confirmed Room Rate
Just curious if this has happened to anyone else - I haven't contacted them but will do so shortly.
I booked two rooms months ago (back in February) for Christmas/New Year's. The rooms were "BEST AVAILABLE RATE" standard rooms at a hotel in the Caribbean.
After booking the hotels, I immediately booked airfare for my parents. I was checking the reservations yesterday as I prepared to book airfare for myself and my brother and discovered to my surprise that the rate had changed dramatically (as in a total increase of $3,200 for both rooms). No one from Hilton has communicated with me about the rate change or any rebooking options.
I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? I'm going to write in to see about getting it straightened out, as obviously I don't want my parents to arrive at the hotel expecting everything to be taken care of only to be surprised by a huge additional bill, nor do I want the surprise on my credit card. It's not imperative that my brother or I go, but I've tried to plan this as a relaxing 35th wedding anniversary for my parents and I'd hate to have anything go wrong.
I have printed copies (and emails) of the original booking with the original rate which I'm sure will come in handy. I booked this on the hilton.com website while logged-in and with my stored American Express/Hilton credit card.
If this has happened to you, how did you get it resolved?
Thanks in advance!
Sean
