Do you ever draw attention from security while photographing airports / airplanes?

I am new to photography and have been interested in taking pictures while on the plane and from within airports, to "document" my journeys as I see many of you have done.

However I've been somewhat leery because I didn't want to draw attention to myself from airline personnel and/or security. Has this ever been an issue for any of you?

Also, what are you using to take these pictures? A small P&S or do you pull out your dSLR? I have a small compact camera that I keep in my laptop bag and is on me at all times, and I also have a Canon S5 that I haven't travelled with yet but would like to start. Anyway I was unsure of lugging out the Canon on a plane.

Any advice appreciated.
