Travel within Argentina - how to cut down costs???
Hi,
I'd like to travel from Buenos Aires to Bariloche on 10/4, then from Bariloche to El Calafate on 10/8, and then finally back to Buenos Aires on the evening of 10/9 or early on 10/10....I'm told this is about $1000 total for foreigners??? Is there any way to cut down on this, or is there a backdoor method to get the locals' price? Do I just need to search through a new travel agent?
I'm also looking at just R/T Buenos Aires > Bariloche for $650 but that still kind of seems like a lot. I'm thinking of even taking the bus, but that's days lost right there.
I'd like to make it to both Bariloche and El Calafate and might still end up paying the $1000, but does anyone know of any ways to cut this down? Also, just to rant but the different fare for foreigners is complete BS. Way to discourage intra-country tourism and have the airlines shoot themselves in the foot....
