For the 777 this is true. The window/aisle pairs usually work best for couples. As an alternative strategy, are there any empty rows? If so you could grab the two aisles and leave the middle seat empty. The middle seat will certainly be among the last to be reserved. Depending on the flight load, you may get lucky and the seat goes out unoccupied. In the event someone does end up w/the middle seat, they will be MORE than happy to switch their middle seat for one of your aisle seats. The two of you will be sitting together but again and you'll have the "climb over issue."
I reserved Seats 9A/B (Seats 8J/H are greyed out) I kept bouncing between 10 J/H but then I read all thru the WIKI pages and all the comments & I was 'heartened' by the comment that 9A would be the 'easiest' to climb over........although it's Bulkhead..
I will keep watching for 8J/H to become available - the AA agent told me those seats were reserved for 'handicapped' ??
