What I found the most shocking as how calm and cool everyone was. The first power down there were curious faces but people stayed calm. After the second and third failure to take off, it was just sighs. No one was cursing or screaming, "Get me off this POS" like I would've thought.
One person on a cell phone did say, "Tell your husband he works for a s**tty airline." I'm sure most of the plane heard that as it sounded like it was 20 rows away from me. Other than that, people were really calm which surprised me. I was expecting when we got to the gate the first time that a handful of people would demand to get off the plane, but not the case.
It's worth noting that the plane had an extremely high ratio of elite flyers, evident by tons of EXPs not getting upgrades and the EXP/Platinum/AAirpass boarding call being like the start of the NY Marathon. Perhaps that's why people remained calmer than I'd have anticipated.
