In some ways, I thought it would be OK (maybe even fun) to expand the smilie/icon choices, but sometimes one person's smilie is another person's insult. As some people have already pointed out, the sarcastic smilie can be a source of contention and I think the lightbulb one is in the same category at times.

I'm not trying to centre out the posters in this link, but it is an example of what happens with certain types of icons.

I would say that there are two examples in the posted link, by the way.

I don't think we need a lot of icons to make our points, and although it might be fun to have a few that would summarize some expressions more readily, I don't like to see people being/getting angry over their useage, either.
