There is a 12:30 BMI flight from LHR to Paris; if that's the one you are on (or another international connection) you won't have to go through immigration if you check your bags through. Still challenging, but I would say it's doable if the UA flight isn't late. On that kind of connection, they won't be enforcing rules on your carryon too carefully.
