Bid $33 / day for convertible - this is only going to be about $90 below what Dollar wants outright and about $150 below what the PL participating companies want. About $270 for a one week rental.
If they reject that, change car type to standard, change bid to $11, and get cheap, though non-convertible car. When I theoretically changed car types before it said something like $10 = Good chnace of acceptance, $11 great chance of acceptance.
Is this the right way to to about it?
Last backup is a standard Hertz rental (compact) at $260/wk.
Although Hotwire does not sell one-way auto rentals, here are their prices for pick-up in San Diego tomorrow for a one-week rental (prices are per day):
$13.24 - Mid size
$13.95 - Full size
$20.95 - Premium
$27.95 - Convertible
Perhaps these rates will help in your decision as to what to bid on Priceline. Good luck!
Interesting to note that Priceline rejected your $32 bid for convertible when Hotwire is charging $27.95. It makes me wonder if one-way rentals with Priceline are going to come at a higher than normal bid price in order to factor in some sort of drop charge the rental companies might want. Time will tell.......
