I just mentioned this in another thread, but my favorite Marriott properties in order of preference are: The JW, the Marriott, the Pere Marquette and the Courtyard.
For Internet service, I found there is a free public wireless service in NOLA that I was barely able to get in my upper floor romm at the JW when I stayed there last December. Turn on your wireless adapter and sniff signals before you spend any money!
Post-Katrina, the street stench a'la Burbon has been much less of an issue.
Breakfast at the JW in Shula's is pretty awsome. The bacon is almost a crispy pork steak! The CL breakfast is pretty ordinary. Otherwise, the JW is just a typical Marriott business-class-standard hotel.
The Pere Marquette used to be my favorite in NOLA, pre-Katrina. The old restaurant (Rene Bistrot) was a destination in itself and you would see a lot of locals. Post-Katrina, the property is trying to rebuild itself.
The Courtyard is just a Courtyard although this one has a full bar (hey, its NewAwlins

) and the location is pretty good.
