Congrats!

Buy three coach tickets and upgrade them. That's right - upgrade all three. Or redeem miles for a J or F award seat for your baby. Children (even two month old infants) travel better when strapped in their own seat, on top of the obvious safety issues.

I did this with my twins from the time they were several weeks old. And my spouse and I had FOUR F or J class meals to split between the two of us. I like to eat, and enjoy premium cabin airline food.

The most stupid thing I see people up front do is upgrade themselves while holding a lap infant.

NOTHING COULD BE MORE STUPID.

Why? Because they have nowhere to put the infant at mealtime. I didn't often hold my children throughout mealtime at home, so why do it on an airplane?

And ignore anyone who thinks that frequent flying parents give up their right to the front cabin when they have children.

On the safety issue: just because the airlines and the FAA will let you hold your precious child on your lap - while at the same time ordering you to remain seated throught much of the flight restrained with a SEAT BELT - doesn't make it a good idea.

Just 'cause you can doesn't mean you should.
