Upgrading with lap infant on UA: advice?

We're planning a UA trip SFO-JFK to see the inlaws with our as-now fetus, then-to-be 2 month old son (who is guaranteed to be charming, perfectly well-behaved and silent the WHOLE flight**) My husband and I are both Premier Execs so we have a decent shot at upgrading for this long flight. Needed some strategic advice on the following from those of you who have traveled with little lap babies before:

1) SHOULD we try to upgrade? Pros, cons?
2) If not, what seats should we try to get in E+?
3) Speaking of E+, is it worth trying to book a plane (777?) that has a bulkhead with a bassinet?
4) Any other UA-specific advice we should know before we choose a flight/seats?

Many thanks in advance!

** a potentially futile effort to avoid getting flamed by those who feel strongly about babies in C...we absolutely swear we will do everything in our power to minimize disruption.
