OK, we are back from our mini-vacation, four nights in Topanga Canyon and than two nights in Costa Mesa

A big shout-out for Nobu's Malibu--the best tempura I have ever had, great king crab legs in tempura batter as well. I could eat there every night.

also had a fine meal at Josie's in Santa Monica.

Our Saddle Peak Lodge wine dinner was canceled but we did have a very nice lunch at a newer place called Canyon Bistro, in the mini mall across from the Topanga post office.

And, saving the best for last, another outstanding Charlie Palmer dining experience at the Bloomingdale's at the South Coast Plaza. Sublime preparation and some very fresh ingredients.
