This was the case with STC: Only one segment had to be together (!) - and even not in the same class (!!). With M&M, all segments have to be done together in the same cabin.

This sounds almost border-hysterical

But back to the topic - I would not participate on such things, neither "active" nor "passive". Although I rarely need full flexibility on holiday-flights, I don't want to be dependent of somebody else not travelling with me at the destination. If I book a companion-award, it's only for somebody doing the whole trip with me. Everything else is ways too risky - if a change of somebody's plans occur, it can end up that the other needs to buy a new ticket...
