It is obvious that this should not have happened to this member... and Starwood has admitted as much. The fact that it is taking this long to get this resolved... and lack of communication to the OP shows as much.
I am sorry... but this should not have happened to the OP at all... and had a negative impact on a most important event for the OP. The fact that it is taking so long is unacceptable. The OP did nothing wrong... but is the one who has to waste time and energy to get it fixed. The OP is fortunate that the credit card company put a hold on this charge... or there would be other costs of the *W error.
I have no doubt that *W will provide some level of compensation above the certificate value... they certainly should. However, look at the goodwill it has cost them from the OP as well as all of us who have watched this unfold.

I think that's a heck of an assumption since *wood does seem to make things right for folks when they're wrong. Seems that there may be more to the story and perhaps they're trying to work everything out to completion. Hauer hasn't posted in a few days to let us know; but from other anecdotal information in this forum it does seem that *wood tries to make as much as possible right.
