I’m curious to know what you consider to be a ‘standard ryokan’, especially if it can be had in Kyoto for between 7-10,000yen.

‘Ryokan’ in itself covers such a broad range of options a definition of ‘standard’ is very hard to grasp as it will vary so much depending on people’s perceptions. For myself – a ‘standard ryokan’ ranges from between 9-10,000 and 15-16,000yen, and from 20,000yen upwards (per person) in particularly coveted areas such as Kyoto.
