Having flown UA FC SAN/IAD/SAN recently, I have to agree - the food has become virtually inedible. It's embarrassing - the food is indistiguishable from slop. By contract, I flew Virgin America in FC, and while the portions were not large, they were definitely high quality, with appetizers and main course being quite delightful...the breakfast quiche was excellent with fresh fruit on the breakfast flight, and prior to landing, we got a chicken caesar wrap with a chocolate....

in contrast, my flights in FC on Continental from SAN to Houston with a 12:45 pm departure the previous week: Tomato basil soup, choice of hot ruben sandwich or shrimp caesar salad, a small fruit bowl and a package of milano cookies...then on the connection to ATL (90 minutes) - small salad with chicken, fruit bowl and package of cheese and crackers.
On post 7:30 pm departures on CO flights longer than 2.5 hours, there's at least a cold plate, with a variety of meats, cheese and crudite, a fruit bowl and milano cookies.
