BOOK the flights as STAR awards and you can avoid some of the fees, and learn you dont want to collect aeroplan points. If you are looking for a domestic tickets try putting you miles with other star airlines that have no FUEL charge.
You have options. Aeroplan is at the bottom of the barrel.

AP is $165 YYZ-ORD UA is $35. Perhaps others can post what US Airways fees are.
