Hi, I plan to do a 2-day trip to visit Mt Fuji and staying overnight iat a place in Hakone that has hot spring facility.

Instead of using a tour, can this trip be done using public transport to save some money and also have flexibility with time?? If so, please kindly suggest the public transports available (I will have 7-day rail pass), places I should/could visit and a recommended place I can stay in Hakone with hot spring.
