For those who think that disputing a charge is the simple solution, please consider that disputing the charge does not resolve the underlying issue. Had the OP successfully disputed the charge, the hotel would still have on its books that the OP owed it some money. This way, by having patience and letting the lurkers and Starwood work through the problem, the OP will get the charge removed and the hotel will not be pursuing the OP for an outstanding bill.
