What's this about status matching? I have Priority Club Gold, does Starwood Match that?

How do I go about it? Sorry, I know this has probably been discussed before but it never occurred to me I would ever possibly get "status" in SPG because we are only leisure travellers and sometimes we go to little islands or remote places for bird-watching where there are no Starwoods.
