Business to First Award Change up question
All,
I'm trying to change an award ticket from international business to first. This involves moving from one carrier to another. When I tried to do the rep on the other end said she would have to completely cancel the original ticket and reissue a new one. One problem with this is that one of the legs that I'm on is the only one open in business on a two cabin service flight and I want to keep it. She was afraid that by the time she had made the new reservation someone else might have come along and taken it.
Now I have another ticket where I just did the exact same thing and the rep didn't have any problem at all changing it. And I kept the original record locator.
Is this a case of hang up and trying again? I'm pretty sure you should be able to go from one class of service to another on the same locator even if you change carriers (for a charge if you're not 1k). Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.
