Sorry to hear about this. However this has also happened to me at the Hyatt in Cologne, Germany.
I was also shown into a room by staff members at the Sheraton Port Douglas, Australia where a naked couple were enjoying themselves when I was shown into "my" room towing my luggage ...

Lesson to be learnt: Always bolt your door !
