As a result, Goldman set aside about $16.5 billion for salary, bonuses, and benefits for its 26,000 employees. That averages to more than $600,000 a person.
Maybe the above also includes Stock Options? At the most senior executive level the value of options often dwarf the cash awards. Both options and most/some of the cash have vesting periods.
The figures do seem very high given that the median in is probably less than 100k USD, the guys at the very top are doing well!
