Internaut, you must be lucky, as the hotel policy for upgrades and platinum benefits is not as good as you make it out to be. What uyou received is definitely an exception to what is the norm for this property.

Their policy is to offer a 1 category room upgrade from the original booking and NO CLUB ACCESS, unless a club room is booked.

Last year I met the Front Office Manager and discussed the platinum status upgrade/benefit policies with him.

As my wife and I are planning a return trip to Auckland (5th time in 7 years) and I have had mixed stay experiences, I decided to contact him and asked what their upgrade policy was and whether I could get an early check-in for 9:30 am or 10:00 am, as I had a 7:30 am arrival from Los Angeles.

I received the following response:

Dear Mr MXM135

Very nice indeed to hear from you. I trust you are well and good to hear that you are planning a trip to Auckland!

With regards to the upgrade of your accommodation, I am pleased to offer you a complimentary upgrade as follows:

- When booked 1 Queen Bureau - non-smoking – Upgrade to King Bureau

- When booked 1 King Bureau - non smoking – Upgrade to King View

- When booked 1 Queen Club - non-smoking – Upgrade to King Club

Mr MXM135, please note that that our standard check-in time is 2pm and I am currently forecasting the night of November 4th to be full therefore it will be very difficult for us to have a room available for you until 2pm on November 5th. I highly recommend you pre-registering the room from the night of November 4th in order to have a room available for you on your arrival at the hotel.

Please do not hesitate to contact myself direct if I can be of any further assistance and I am very much looking forward to your enjoyable stay with us.
