Not sure that BA EC can do anything for you in this case.

Why not just use them as full or part payment for a short-haul flight? You will often get better deals via AirMiles as they now include all fees, taxes and surcharges in their prices.

Just booked a cash plus miles return from LHR-GLA for 390 Air Miles plus £65 (cheapest BA cash ticket was over £150 and the BA Miles ticket would have been 9,000 miles plus £77 in taxes and charges).
