For the love of the FSM!! Corfu is a fantastic place and not to be missed! Some beaches are indeed full of package tourists, and I wouldn't recommend it as a beach-heavy destination, but the Old Town really is something special, the cuisine is great, and the interior of the island is very green and pleasant. You can stay here, and I've heard that the nearby island of Paxi is well worth a visit.
