The fact the FAs have not had a pay rise since the War, or have a plasma TV they can't pay off this month, or there is no desk job for them etc is sadly not something the PASSENGER needs or wants to hear about.

Ua have the routes, have a good FF plan, have planes that are in the top 10% of any airline for comfort and features. But the in-plane staff let them down.

As jwalkabout points out they are just not in the race.

One thing the management CAN do if they can't quietly evaporate everyone over 55 from front line FA duty is to at least get a half attractive uniform happening.

Right now no-one in Wal Mart check-out area would agree to wear those horrible sacks that UA issue them.

Nicole Kidman would look bad in that dowdy uniform.

And BAN gum chewing for ALL FA's while on duty. A disgusting habit that should never be allowed, and one that Asians (among others) find repellent and offensive from service personnel.

A granny wearing a shapeless sack is a bad enough image - but a gum chewing granny in a sack for 14 hours just is silly.

They can pick their teeth, chew gum, clean out their ear wax or whittle or knit doilies on their own time, but not while they are allegedly working.

When I take over UA there will be some changes.

I do know that CO flight attendants have to adhere to some pretty strict rules while on duty, like no cell phone use in the terminal while in uniform. CO has recently terminated some FAs because they were foolish enough to fire up the mobile at the hubs.
