Maybe it is something to do with the size of the base? Being small, it gives the opportunity for crews to get to know each other, more quickly. They end up flying with their friends, which I'm sure makes them happier and more friendly towards the passengers.
Also, being a reletively young base they probably feel that they have to do more to prove that the base can work. Excellent service resulting in good passenger feedback will definately sway management I would have thought.
