Wanted to post an update.

I sent in the forms just 3 weeks ago. I was actually in Seattle for about a month and then pretty busy here in NYC. Anyway, I was pushing right up against the 45 day window.

Last week I received a letter saying that while electronics are specifically NOT covered under United's baggage policy, there were going to make a one time exception and refund me the price of the Wii. Today I received a check for the full amount of $270.93. Thanks United!!

Re: why bring the wii? It was a present for some visiting Brazilians who were only in Seattle for a few days. Wiis, while easier to get than 6 months ago, are still in demand and regularly sold out. I wouldn't have done it if there were other options. Trust me. I fly almost every week and check a bag about twice a year.
