Another thing to consider is whether this year's heavier hurricane season will decrease the correlation between crude and Jet A prices. Many refineries have been shut along the Gulf Coast and gasoline prices are up sharply today, even as oil has fallen. If crude prices become less correlated with refined products (like Jet A) for a decent period, airlines could suffer losses on the hedges and losses on fuel price increases.
