The easiest way is by taxi. I'd estimate the costs from Khao Lak to Le Meridian, just north of Karon, to be about THB 2,000.
Of course, it's possible to take a bus from Kao Lak to Phuket City for quite cheap. A taxi would run about THB 600 extra on each side, to get to/from the bus terminals.
