That is why in europe everyone has a Travel Cancellation Policy either included in the credit card or you set one up for a few EUR if you are concerned about that.
Also, the base fares are all very low and nearly all european airlines will refund you unused taxes and YQ if you have to cancel. For example I book FRA-LHR for 4$ ticket and 109$ taxes, fuel etc... If I cancel I lose 4$, so what
