I agree with chessy.

1. for cherry blossom, it's worth going march--april, though I went during the winter. But I hear, the cherry blossom season is quite short and un-predictable, as to when it starts, so you have to be quite lucky.

2. A week in Tokyo, it's not enough. There is so much to see. If you pm, me, I'll send you a travel review I did of my first trip there.

3. Can't help here.

4. If you don't want to spend too much, stay at the Park Hotel Tokyo, right in the Shiodome Media Tower. Very clean, smart, great breakfast and amazing views. Bathrooms quite small, but hey, we're talking about Japan, everything is small. I prefer the Mandarin Oriental, was not too keen on Park Hyatt. I found the PH too touristy, the MO is very highly rated and I will definitely stay there next time. I tried all 3 hotels. This is not too say that the other 2 were bad. They were all very good, but I just prefer the MO. Also, it's next to Ginza, so ideal for shopping/antiques/galleries/Palace. The PH is on the other side of Tokyo, quite a long journey into Ginza, where most people want to stay.

The bar is great at the PH in the evenings, but do go early. There can be quite a queue. Have the Mascarpone pizza, the best pizza I have ever had. They add a £10 cover charge per person after 9pm, so take your time. I was in a rush, had a pizza and a drink, paid £40, because of the cover charge. But did not regret it. Fact is, prices are high in Tokyo, but the service and quality match the prices.

The MO is very elegant, more "boutique" though not quite. Restaurants/bars are smaller, so you never really feel you're in a big hotel. If you have breakfast, try to ask for the corner window table. You see Ginza and Mount Fuji from there. Amazing. You must go to the MO deli shop and try their pastries, it's heaven. The cream puffs are to die for. Also, the restaurant is highly rated.

5. can't help, I can tell you next year, I'm doing a 3 week trip around Japan

6. F both ways. Concorde room on the way out and F catering on the way back.
