I hope this is the right forum to ask.

I am looking to redeem miles for a trip from North America to Perth, Australia. According to staralliance.com, an acceptable routing is via either Singapore or Bangkok. If I do take that routing, do you know if I can do a stopover in either of those cities? I would love a few days in Thailand but if it is going to cost mega miles to do so, then I might make that a separate trip.
