If lying in the sun is your thing, there is an important distinction between the two hotels. With The Datai being cut into the forest, for sunbathing, the room balconies are not sunbed sized and most villas are shaded under the canopy. You have to go to the pools or the beach.

This is not a concern at the FS, you can spend the day in your own room.

I love the Datai,and it surroundings and continue to stay there. While I've visited the Four Seasons, I've not stayed. As mentioned there is no comparison, beach wise, Datai Bay is stunning.
