While it's probably true that you can find Mexican food almost anywhere, I don't find all that much good Mexican food in my travels. On numerous trips to New England, I've been appalled at the some of the restaurants that came highly recommended. There are entire areas of Arizona (Globe, Flagstaff) that have many Mexican restaurants, but no decent ones. I've tried Mexican in numerous North Carolina towns without any luck also. And, heaven help me, I was persuaded by a friend to try Mexican in London once.

I think lots of folks might have their standards set too low. Perhaps they think tamales from cans are OK, or that Taco Bell, Baja Fresh, or On the Border make good Mexican food.
