You can accrue AA miles when flying HA. Interisland flights have a minimum 250 miles, rather than the 500 mile maximum for all other flights.
Flights between islands are routinely available for $70 all-in one-way, making award flights a questionable value.
Yes, one can go to the outer islands on an AA award but only on AA; AA flights weren't available so we were booked on HA but the 25,000 miles only got us to HNL. We had to cash in another 5000 miles for each interisland flight. And that is what galls me. The agent couldn't explain it either, only that AA has an
agreement w/ HA....
And yes, I understand that AA miles can be credited for the interisland flights on HA, but why not TransPac? Is it that
agreement again?
