In my ears the train transfer sounds like a dream compared to the road transfers that I experienced in India. (Our trip was between the two Oberoi resorts Rajvilas and Vanyavilas).
The road situation is better in some places but it also much worse in some places required for the same general origin-destination area trips taken a few years back. The train is not heaven, but it is no worse than the worst road trips that may be required for such a journey as the OP's trip.
