Things might have changed a lot since I was in India a couple of years ago, but normal ground transfers by car were not at all comfortable and serious delays not very uncommon (extremely bad road quality some places, including the Jaipur - Rathambore stretch, and loads of unexpected things that could happen to cause delays). The road situation is better in some places but it also much worse in some places required for the same general origin-destination area trips taken a few years back. The train is not heaven, but it is no worse than the worst road trips that may be required for such a journey as the OP's trip.
