Iberia has moved its hub out of Miami. Other airlines will undoubtedly follow, and when the USA starts to lose thousands of jobs -- instead of the mere hundreds they have lost so far -- they will probably start to wake up and take notice, but for now, almost everything trans-Pacific has a refuelling stop in HNL or Guam -- yes, that's right, even if you fly Beijing to Santiago, and you have no interest in going anywhere near the USA, and you don't even want to get off the plane in HNL, the Americans still demand that you pay 100 dollars for a visa and you get fingerprinted! -- and everything from Europe goes through Miami.
This is just full of holes. In addition to the routes mentioned above, AM also operates NRT-TIJ-MEX as an option for avoiding the USA. Most of the larger European carriers offer flights directly to UIO/GYE/GIG/GRU/SCL/EZE/PTY/CCS or other major airports in some combination from their European hubs. Going to Asia is harder, but S. Africa offers some decent connection points with flights by SAA and SQ, IIRC.
