Last year, I went to Mexico City from Los Angeles without any problem probably because Mexico is a contiguous country to the United States. However, it's a different case for argentina and brazil..
I'm not sure why you have this opinion. If you are allowed in once to the US to transit and then leave there is no reason to belive you would not be allowed in for a visit. If you have a valid visa eveything should be fine.
